Ekaterina Varnava moved beyond television comedy long ago and now performs as a touring cabaret diva. In Drama Queen she becomes the undisputed mistress of the stage: she changes extravagant outfits, dances, sings and tosses out risque jokes. Fourteen artists from seven countries appear alongside her in the production.
Drama Queen brings together theatre, music, choreography and the aesthetics of adult cabaret. It is at once a parody and a seriously staged spectacle — bright, provocative and expensive in execution. “You know that the show will end and you will go back to the real world, but for these two hours I will do everything to make you experience the full spectrum of emotions. Restrictions, hang-ups and taboos have no place here,” Varnava says.
The next Drama Queen show takes place on 20 August at the Dzintari Concert Hall in Jurmala.
