Lady Gaga, the iconic "Mother Monster" herself, and her fiancé of over two years, Michael Polansky, have officially welcomed their first child together. This exciting news comes six years after the couple first began dating.
Motherhood has long been on the Grammy winner's mind. In October 2025, Gaga shared, "I would like to do many things. All of these things are open. But, what I really want is to be a mom. That's my next starring role, I hope." While the 40-year-old, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, initially felt "a lot of apprehension" about becoming a parent, she was also "excited to be a mom." She emphasized her desire to allow her children to discover their own paths, stating in 2025, "The thing that’s the most important to me is to not force my children to live a life that they are not choosing. So the more that we can give them space to discover who they are on their own, that’s the thing that I believe in the most." Gaga added, "If our children only understand Mommy’s job, that’s a very narrow view of life. There’s so much in the world, and I want them to be able to choose for themselves who they want to be." She also pondered how she could maintain her career passion while "making more space for other things."
Gaga found her ideal partner in Polansky, with whom she discussed raising a family extensively. Last year, she shared, "That's something Michael and I have talked about a lot—allowing our kids to be their own people. It’s such an intense thing for kids coming into the world. And they're told how to think and what to believe in and how to eat…I just kind of want to let my kids find out who they are." She also expressed, "I would want my children to understand that whatever my artistry means to them is totally up to them. I would never actually want to shape it or tell them how to think about me. Maybe other than that I just did my best. And tried to stay true to myself along the way."
Their romance blossomed after Gaga's 2019 breakup from Christian Carino. She and Polansky were first spotted on New Year's Day in January 2020. Gaga made their relationship Instagram official in February 2020, sharing a photo of herself sitting on Polansky's lap in Miami with the caption, "We had so much fun in Miami. Love to all my little monsters and fans, you're the best!"
Despite their desire for privacy, Gaga has often expressed her love for Polansky, an entrepreneur and former CEO of the San Francisco-based Parker Group. In April 2020, she posted a photo with the caption, "I've got a STUPID love." The Oscar winner also called Michael "the love of my life" during a 2020 interview. In March 2021, Polansky surprised her with a massive flower arrangement for her 35th birthday, to which she responded on Instagram, "I love you honey. I can't wait to be home with you and our dogs, that's all I need."
Following the February 2021 dognapping incident, the "Born This Way" singer made a rare comment about their shared life, stating, "My dogs and the man that I love are my whole life." Engagement rumors circulated in March 2024 when Gaga was seen wearing a large diamond ring. While they remained tight-lipped then, Gaga later confirmed their engagement days after kicking off the Paris Fashion Week in September 2024. During a conversation with French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, she introduced Polansky as her "fiancé."
The couple made their red carpet debut at the premiere of *Joker: Folie à Deux* at the Venice Film Festival on September 4, 2024. Polansky also joined Gaga at the London premiere later that month. On the Graham Norton Show, Gaga revealed they got engaged on April Fools' Day. "Actually, I thought he was joking and he was not," she said. "But it was really nice."
After winning Artist of the Year at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, the "Abracadabra" singer praised Polansky for his partnership on her *Mayhem* album and for loving her in a way she had "never known." Alongside a picture of the pair on a hike, she wrote on Instagram, “You are MY artist of the year. And the love of my life. I love you.”
