John Boyega, the acclaimed "Star Wars" actor, has revealed he is a married man and is expecting a baby boy. The 34-year-old star shared the exciting news in an interview published on October 4.
When questioned about a ring on his finger, Boyega confirmed it was indeed a wedding band and that he has been secretly married for two years. While he kept his wife's identity private, he did mention they had a small ceremony and expressed a desire for a larger wedding celebration in the future.
"We both like the idea of celebrating something established, rather than celebrating the entry," the British actor, who is of Nigerian descent, explained. He then joked, "And by then, we’ll have to shut Nigeria down!"
Boyega also shared that he is becoming a father to a baby boy and is already a stepfather to a young boy. "My baby’s on the way," he said, adding, "We got a baby cooking." He further expressed, "So, you know, my life is completely, completely fulfilled in terms of family."
Known for his role as Finn in the "Star Wars" franchise, Boyega has been vocal about the racist online harassment he endured, particularly in 2020. In 2022, he commended Disney for supporting Moses Ingram after she faced similar racist abuse. "It makes me feel like, ‘Okay, cool. I am not the elephant in the room.’ Because when I started, it wasn’t really a conversation you could bring up," he stated during an appearance on SiriusXM’s "Tell Me Everything With John Fugelsang."
He continued, "You know how they went through it. It was kind of like, ‘Let’s just be silent.' It wasn’t a conversation you could bring up." Comparing Ingram's support from the company to his own past experience, Boyega clarified he wasn't "bitter." He elaborated, "Sometimes you’re not the guy to get the blessing and sometimes you are Moses, you know, you lead the people to the mountain, but you see the destination. You don’t get to go in, you get others to go in. And that’s where you get your happiness from."
