Rumer Willis is playfully suggesting why millennial women might not be crushing on younger actors like Timothée Chalamet. The 38-year-old actress, who is mom to daughter Louetta with ex Derek Richard Thomas, shared her thoughts in a humorous video on October 15. The clip featured her sitting in a chair with the words “Why millennial women don’t have crushes on Timothée Chalamet” appearing on screen.
Willis then presented her evidence through a slideshow of photos featuring Charlie Hunnam, Tom Hardy, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Pedro Pascal, Javier Bardem, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Matthew McConaughey. She captioned the video, set to Shaggy’s “Bombastic,” with “Need I say more…” While she didn’t explicitly name her top crush, Willis hinted that Hunnam might take the crown by including three photos of the Sons of Anarchy star. The common thread among her chosen heartthrobs is that they all fall within the elder millennial and Gen-X age range. Chalamet, at 30, is considered a younger millennial or Gen-Z.
However, despite Willis’s lighthearted comments, some millennial stars have openly expressed their admiration for Chalamet. Jennifer Lawrence famously declared her crush on him, stating in 2018 when she was 27, “Timothee, I’m waiting for him to get a little bit older, you know? [I’m] buttering him up like a pig for slaughter, and then I’m going to swing right in there as soon as he’s, like, 30.” She added, “I didn’t realize he was so young. Tell him to wait! [He’s] so, so talented and hot!” Years later, they even co-starred in 2021’s Don’t Look Up, with Chalamet revealing that Lawrence played a small role in his love life, saying, “Don’t Look Up was an opportunity to work with Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio, two actors that I hugely look up to. Hunger Games, I took my first date… My first date ever was that Hunger Games one.”
