Marvel Announces Phase Seven Slate With Five New Films and Three Disney Plus Series

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige took the stage at a surprise fan event in Los Angeles on Saturday to unveil the complete Phase Seven slate of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the lineup is nothing short of ambitious. The announcement, which streamed live to millions of viewers worldwide, detailed five theatrical films and three Disney+ series set to roll out between late 2026 and 2028.

The crown jewel of the announcement is "Avengers: Eternity," now officially confirmed for May 2028, which Feige described as "the most consequential Avengers story since Endgame." The film will reportedly bring together both new and legacy characters for a multiversal conflict that has been building since 2021's "Loki" series. Robert Downey Jr., who returned to the MCU as Doctor Doom, will anchor the villain side, while a "new generation of heroes" takes center stage.

Other films announced include a solo "Storm" movie starring Janelle Monae, which drew some of the loudest applause of the evening; "Nova," featuring a yet-to-be-announced lead; "Shang-Chi: Legend of the Dragon King" with Simu Liu returning; and "The Eternals: Awakening," a soft reboot of the 2021 film with a new creative team. On the streaming side, Disney+ will host "Young Avengers," "Ghost Rider" starring Jenna Ortega, and a "Silver Surfer" limited series.

Feige acknowledged that Marvel has faced criticism in recent years for what some perceived as franchise fatigue, but argued that Phase Seven represents a "creative reset." "We listened to the fans and to our filmmakers," he said. "Every project on this slate exists because a passionate creator brought us a story we couldn't say no to. Quality over quantity — that's our mandate now." Wall Street responded positively, with Disney stock rising 3% in after-hours trading following the announcement.
