Natalia Gulkina still cannot come to terms with the fact that "Mirage" was practically destroyed by scandals. The singer is convinced: the group could still be selling out stadiums today, if not for the endless squabbles that overshadowed its history.
For Gulkina, "Mirage" was always a unique phenomenon on the Russian stage. She does not hide her disappointment: the group's popularity, which once captivated millions, has in recent years been overshadowed only by a series of scandals. "I'm still hurt that such a group was squandered. It's a diamond that was shattered on the floor. It's a pity, a great pity. Now we could be touring and filling stadiums, sports palaces. But none of that exists..." Natalia laments.
According to the singer, constant conflicts between the project participants spoiled the audience's perception of the legendary group. "With their scandals, dirt, and squabbles, the feeling of a fairy tale was ruined. I tried not to respond to rudeness with rudeness. But still, the love was overshadowed," she admitted on the program "Open Up, David" on the "Moscow-24" channel.
Gulkina herself, after leaving "Mirage," did not disappear from the stage. The 62-year-old artist continues her solo career, although it is not without difficulties. After parting ways with the group, she found herself in a difficult situation: disputes arose over the rights to the hits, and Natalia lost the ability to perform songs that had been associated with her for many years. She had to re-form her repertoire and also face lawsuits with the authors of these songs.
Today, Natalia is calm not only about her professional past but also about changes in her personal life. The singer admits that she is currently single and has long since stopped looking for relationships. She enjoys the feeling of freedom and happily lives for herself and her children. The artist has two adult heirs: her eldest son Alexey is 42, and her daughter Yana is 27, so they do not require much attention and care.
"I calmed down a long time ago. I'm not looking for my love. Not everyone is lucky enough to fall madly in love. But somehow I was. If it suddenly happens, it will truly be a miracle, because I simply don't believe in it anymore. And I'm not looking for it. I feel great. Yes, I am a single person, I have adult children, I help them as much as I can," Natalia concluded.
