Prince Harry and Prince William recently traded barbs in a hilarious new “SNL UK” cold open. The sketch, which aired on October 10, depicted Prince William (Freddie Meredith) and Kate Middleton (Annabel Marlow) being lured into an uncomfortable reunion at Sandringham with Prince Harry (Jack Shep) and Meghan Markle (Ayoade Bamgboye). The orchestrator of this awkward gathering was none other than the disgraced ex-prince, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (George Fouracres).
The skit kicked off with Markle observing, “Look, this is where your grandpa asked if I was related to Beyoncé,” to which Harry quipped, “Classic. And over here, this is where he asked if I was related to him.” The Prince and Princess of Wales then appeared, with Prince William greeting his brother as “Prince Ginger Pubes.”
Harry retorted, “I told you not to call me that because you know I don’t have a comeback.” Middleton then chimed in, “Oh look, William, it’s the woman from ‘Suits.’” Harry quickly shot back, “She’s not on ‘Suits’ anymore. She doesn’t do anything anymore.” The reunion expanded to include King Charles (Larry Dean), Queen Camilla, and Mountbatten-Windsor, who exclaimed, “Did somebody say Pizza Express Woking?!”
When Charles addressed him without his former title, Mountbatten-Windsor corrected him, “That’s Prince Andrew to you.” The monarch then delivered a scathing rebuke: “Andrew, enough is enough. You’re arrogant. You’re entitled. You represent an outdated institution that has had centuries of war, tax evasion, and slavery, and that’s all great, but you have also been accused of terrible things, and that’s where I draw the line.” Andrew’s defiant response was, “I swear, I never believed for one moment that my actions would have consequences.”
The sketch overtly satirizes the royal family, particularly Harry and Meghan’s abrupt return to the UK in August with their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5. The couple had initially departed the UK in 2020 after stepping down as senior royals. They reportedly hoped the move would allow their children to forge relationships with the royal family. The skit also directly targets the disgraced Mountbatten-Windsor.
