Otar Kushanashvili has revealed a new reason for the discord in Lera Kudryavtseva's and Igor Makarov's family, besides his alcohol problems. The TV presenter has repeatedly admitted that crises in her marriage to the hockey player arise due to his harmful addiction. She sent her husband for treatment and even intended to leave, but the couple celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary this summer.
Kushanashvili claims that another painful topic is financial. According to him, when Makarov's career was at its peak, he was the main breadwinner in the family. "Lera Kudryavtseva and I had a conversation; her husband is a hockey player. At the time when his career was in full swing, he was very rich. Well, any football player or hockey player is an undeservedly rich person. Completely! They don't deserve a cent of what they receive. But when his career was relevant, he was earning. Then they switched places. Lera is now the breadwinner," Kushanashvili said.
At the beginning of their relationship, the situation was indeed different. In 2014, Kudryavtseva said that her husband managed the family budget, paying for trips and large purchases, and giving her money "for living." Makarov's career ended in 2020; his last club was Sibir. Igor himself responded sharply to accusations of idleness, claiming that over the years in hockey, he had earned enough for two houses and three apartments in Moscow.
However, Kushanashvili insists that the issue of money still causes conflicts. "I think: where did he put all those 600 million Georgian lari? I asked Lera, as I've known her for an indecent number of years: isn't she bothered that the status of breadwinner has passed to her. She says: 'Sometimes, when we quarrel, it's very annoying'," Otar shared.
The problems in Kudryavtseva's and Makarov's marriage are not limited to finances. The couple married in 2013; their daughter Maria was born in August 2018. In January 2024, Kudryavtseva unexpectedly announced her departure from her husband, citing "Alcohol is evil" as the reason. Later, she clarified that it was not a divorce, and they were trying to solve the problem.
In subsequent years, Kudryavtseva repeatedly had emotional breakdowns due to Makarov's addiction. It was especially difficult for her in the summer of 2025: Lera treated her husband, consulted doctors, sent him to rehabs and for coding, but the problem returned. The TV presenter tried to shield her daughter Masha from what was happening. "I became 'codependent.' I'm afraid he'll die, that something will happen if I don't control it," the star admitted.
Despite the crises, Kudryavtseva did not divorce, largely for her daughter's sake. Judging by social media, everything is fine in their relationship now. This spring, Kudryavtseva vacationed with her husband and daughter in Turkey, and on June 8, she congratulated Igor on their 13th wedding anniversary.
