The desperate search for 19-year-old Marly Kinney has concluded with a tragic discovery, as her body was found Sunday afternoon, according to TMZ. The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources confirmed on Sunday that Kinney's body was recovered near Grayson Lake, approximately five days after she was reported missing.
Authorities from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources stated that multiple agencies located the teen's body in the Grayson area around 3:45 p.m. Sunday. Kinney's family has been notified, and the Carter County Coroner was contacted and responded to the scene. The State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort will determine the cause of death.
Kinney was last seen on Wednesday, when she vanished during a boating outing on Grayson Lake. This incident sparked an extensive search effort involving game wardens, Kentucky State Police, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, local fire departments, and other rescue crews. This discovery marks a sorrowful end to the large-scale, multi-day search, which garnered significant community support and volunteer assistance. As previously reported by Kentucky State Police, charges were filed against 23-year-old Ethan Conley, the captain of the boat Marly was last seen on. Conley was arrested on Wednesday for boating under the influence after informing authorities he could not locate the woman who had been with him on the boat. Conley's case remains separate as investigators continue to look into the circumstances surrounding Kinney's death.
