Isla Fisher is opening up about her dating dealbreakers following her April 2024 split from Sacha Baron Cohen. The Spa Weekend actress recently revealed a specific habit that gave her the ultimate "ick" while dating.
More than two years after announcing her separation from Cohen, Fisher shared a recent dating turn-off. "I have a dating ick that happened recently," Fisher stated in an interview shared on August 30. "I liked somebody. His dog ran away and he chased his dog. But instead of chasing upright, he ran low with his hands outstretched—like a cartoon."
The 50-year-old was decidedly unimpressed by this unusual dog-retrieval technique. "The ick was growing and growing and by the time he caught the dog, he had lost the p---y," she candidly added.
Since July of last year, Fisher, who shares three children with Cohen, has made several confessions about the qualities she dislikes in men. During an August 19 appearance on Australia’s The Project, she admitted to disliking men who wear backpacks with the front buckle clasped and described seeing a man’s "repulsive" heel in exposed footwear as her "biggest ick."
Running posture appears to be a recurring turn-off for Fisher. "You know when a man runs on film and it's just like, it looks like a sprinkler moving," she explained. "It's just wrong." As for who sets the standard for a good run, Fisher declared, "Tom Cruise has really nailed the sexy run."
While the Confessions of a Shopaholic star is clear about what she doesn't want in a partner, she has also found strength in her female friendships during her divorce. "I'm much stronger than I thought I was, and I would say that my friendships, my female friendships, have really been instrumental to me discovering or recovering that strength," she shared last month. "I'm incredibly grateful."
Fisher and Cohen first met in the early 2000s at a party in Sydney, Australia. "She was hilarious," Cohen told The New York Times in October 2020. "We were at a very pretentious party, and me and her bonded over taking the mick out of the other people in the party. I knew instantly. I don’t know if she did." The couple got engaged in 2004 and married in Paris in March 2010. They share three children.
In December 2021, Fisher celebrated their 20-year milestone, quoting Winnie the Pooh: "If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever." However, in April 2024, they announced their separation on Instagram Stories, stating, "After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage." Their divorce was finalized in June 2025, with both sharing on Instagram Stories, "Our divorce has now been finalised. We are proud of all we've achieved together, and, continuing our great respect for each other, we remain friends and committed to co-parenting our wonderful children."
