Martin Averbukh, the winner of the reality show "Survival. Heirs," kept his promise: he proposed to his girlfriend Sofa. Right during their joint viewing of the final episode of the show, Martin got down on one knee. In an exclusive interview, he spoke about the preparations for the engagement, his fiancée's reaction, and future plans.
Martin chose the ring for Sofa together with his father. "My dad and I went to several different jewelry stores a few times — for reconnaissance, so to speak: we looked at options, tried them on. He, by the way, helped me a lot with the choice," Averbukh shared. He didn't have a clear plan then on how exactly to propose. The main task was to surprise Sofa, because after five years of relationship, talks about marriage were already underway, and the fact of the proposal itself would not have been a surprise.
The proposal took place publicly, during the viewing of the finale, surrounded by other participants of the show. Martin admitted that he had not planned to do it publicly, but spontaneously decided that it would be symbolic. "We were invited to a joint viewing of the finale, and at some point, I thought it would be very symbolic. I wanted to share this important moment for me specifically with Sofa," he explained. Sofa, according to Martin, was the only person who never doubted his victory for a second, so he wanted not only to share the joy with her but also to thank her for her support.
In private, Sofa admitted that she was especially touched that Martin decided to take such a step in front of many people. "As you could notice from the project, I am a rather private person, and public appearances are not easy for me," Martin noted. He added that in his excitement, he even opened the ring box upside down, which made Sofa laugh and touched her. "It turned out quite funny, but perhaps it's precisely such moments that are remembered the most," Averbukh believes.
Martin said that Grisha Miroshnichenko's act, who also proposed on the show, inspired him, but was not the reason for his own decision. "Sofa and I have been together for five years; during this time, we have been through so much that the proposal was an absolutely logical continuation of our relationship," he emphasized. The only question was financial capability, as Martin wanted to pay for the ring and the wedding himself. Martin and Sofa maintain warm relations with Grisha and Arina; they are even neighbors and often see each other.
