Kate Middleton and Prince William brought their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Saturday, August 1, 2026. This marks the first official family visit for all five to Scotland.

While the family frequently spends summers at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, these visits have always been strictly private. However, this year, Prince William and Kate Middleton, who are known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, made their first visit to the Commonwealth Games since 2022 a family affair, taking their children to watch the netball semifinals on the penultimate day of the tournament.

The day’s schedule also included a meeting with athletes from the Welsh delegation, time with event volunteers, and a visit to the velodrome to watch the track cycling events. Additionally, there was an event with the charity SportsAid, which supports promising young athletes. The Princess of Wales has been a patron of this organization since 2013.

Unlike other recent sporting events, such as the men’s final at Wimbledon, where only Prince George and Princess Charlotte accompanied their parents, the presence of 8-year-old Prince Louis completed the family picture in Glasgow. Seated in the stands between his two siblings, the young prince once again captivated onlookers with his wide range of expressions during the match: he rested his chin on his hands, held his breath in surprise, and couldn’t help but yawn a few times as he followed the action.
