St. Petersburg has always been a city turned towards the water. For more than ten years the yacht company BAGATTA, headed by Alexey Evsin, has been offering a view of the Northern Capital from exactly the side where it looks its most flawless.
There are cities meant to be taken in from the pavement. St. Petersburg was conceived differently. Its real grand entrance is on the water: where granite embankments stretch into a strict line, the gold of the spires is reflected in the Neva, and palace facades appear one after another, like scenery for a play staged for a handful of spectators alone. That is how the city opens up from the deck of a yacht — without the usual bustle, car horns and crowded embankments. What changes here is not only the vantage point but the very sense of time: St. Petersburg becomes quieter, closer and noticeably more beautiful.
For more than a decade this particular geography of the city has been developed by BAGATTA, the yacht company founded by Alexey Evsin. Its collection includes the yachts ECLIPSE and HERMES, as well as the VELVETTE motor boat.
"For me real luxury is not about being demonstrative, but about the chance to choose the best view, the right distance and a few hours that belong to you alone. St. Petersburg does not need new scenery: sometimes it is enough simply to pull away from the shore to see how perfectly it is already arranged," says Alexey Evsin.
Over the years of BAGATTA's work, a cruise along the Neva has turned from a seasonal diversion into a St. Petersburg ritual in its own right — as natural as a late supper after a premiere, a white night without sleep or a glass of champagne under a raised bridge.
