Prince Harry and Alison Hammond shared a hug and engaged in a laser tag game during an Invictus Games event in Birmingham, as the Duke of Sussex made an unexpected appearance on This Morning.
Harry's surprise appearance on This Morning occurred on Friday morning, July 10, where he hugged Alison and participated in laser tag. He is currently at Birmingham’s National Exhibition (NEC), the primary venue for the 2027 Invictus Games, for an event marking one year until the annual tournament. The Duke of Sussex is observing and taking part in various exhibition events alongside past Invictus Games competitors. Alison, a Birmingham native, is broadcasting live from the event, and Harry has made several surprise appearances on the ITV show.
Upon greeting Alison, Harry embraced her, and the two also competed in a race and laser tag, running on an indoor track and firing laser pistols at targets. These scenes delighted viewers and This Morning hosts Dermot O'Leary and Angela Scanlon, who watched from the ITV studio. Later in the show, Harry revealed that his children, Archie and Lilibet, adore Alison and stated that the UK Bake Off is "far better" than the US version.
Alison asked Harry, "Honestly, your kids and Meghan must be so proud of you. Do they tell you every day?" Harry smiled and replied, "They don't tell me every day that they're proud of me, but yeah, I'm proud of them, they're proud of me. I love my family." He also complimented Alison's hoop earrings, to which she responded, "thank you babes." She then invited him to her house for ackee and saltfish, though she joked she needed to tidy up first. She said, "Have a think about it. I'll go and get everything ready in the house, a little tidy up. Bleach the toilets." Harry replied, "Okay, why does it need tidying up? I'll bleach your toilet for you. For you, anything." Harry also referred to football as 'soccer' when discussing the World Cup quarter-finals, before quickly apologizing and correcting himself.
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, was absent from the event. She was scheduled to attend but did not travel to the UK with her husband Harry earlier this week due to security concerns. However, Meghan is widely anticipated to travel to the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in the coming days, sparking speculation of a meeting between King Charles and his US-based grandchildren. Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, last saw their grandfather in person during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
