Robyn Rihanna Fenty, known professionally as Rihanna, was born on February 20, 1988, in Saint Michael, Barbados. Her early life involved selling clothes with her father on a street stall after struggling with a difficult childhood. She was discovered by American record producer Evan Rogers in 2003 and subsequently auditioned for Jay-Z, signing with Def Jam Recordings at age 16.

Rihanna's debut album, *Music of the Sun*, was released in 2005, marking the beginning of her successful music career.
